Judge Michael Pollard was drafted into the Marine Corp in 1967. After his service, Judge Pollard earned his law degree from the University of Arizona, College of Law and worked as a prosecutor and public defender for 20 years. In 1994, Judge Pollard was appointed as a Tucson City Court Magistrate. Since his appointment to the bench, he has served on various committees, including as chair of the Arizona Supreme Court Committee on the Impact of Domestic Violence in the Courts, as co-chair of the Tucson/Pima County Homeless Plan Implementation Task Force continuing to direct homeless courts in the region, and Veterans in the Regional Municipalities Veterans Treatment Court. Judge Pollard spearheaded the implementation of the Veterans court in Tucson and expanded the court to the surrounding jurisdictions with the help of the respective judges. In 2018, Judge Pollard founded SAJV after recognizing the limitations of grant funding.
